Your story in the Be Mine Valentine Anthology is Valentine Promises. What was the inspiration for the story?
The Amalfi Coast road inspired this story. We were in Italy for a four-week holiday and had taken a SITA bus from Salerno to Atrani (next to Amalfi). We travelled this winding road often during this time and the drivers of big buses and trucks, and the co-operation shown when negotiating very tight stretches of road impressed me. Like other towns along the coastal road, a curving tunnel in the road connects Atrani and Amalfi and before I knew it, I “saw” the meeting between my protagonists!
I considered pitching this story to a big publisher which was, at the time, looking for ‘One Night in …’ stories, so the attraction and subsequent action had to happen quickly.
You’ve published 17 full-length books and 6 novellas. Which main character would be the most embarrassed to get a public Valentine’s gift, and why?
