Rachel Rinetti grew up around horses, and now spends her days working as a communication professional, and her nights and weekends writing, making soy candles, chasing sunsets and meditating with her dog by her side.
Your 5th book, The Birthday Romance Collection, comes out on 27 March 2021. What was the inspiration for the story?
The inspiration for the first book, Birthday Girl (The Birthday Romance Series Book 1), came about after an ex forgot my birthday one year. I thought about what a great birthday might look like in a rural/contemporary romance setting, added a bit of spice, and Birthday Girl was born. It was only ever meant to be a short story (9k words). But after a fan wrote on my Facebook page saying she wanted to know what happened to the characters, I realised Angie and Liam’s story wasn’t over. Since then, I’ve written two novellas, Birthday Boy and Birthday Wish, and combined all three stories into The Birthday Romance Collection.
What motivates you to write?
I am motivated by hope. Hope that someone will pick up one of my books one day, read it and get something out of it. Did my book make them laugh? Cry? Feel something they haven’t felt in a while? Writing is not just a creative outlet for me. My writing tackles important themes like strength, courage and persistence. Hoping someone out there in the world has read my book and got something out of it is what motivates me to keep writing.
How do you select the names of your characters?
I’m all about transparency, so please don’t judge. I normally go onto a baby names website and look through the names. That’s it!
If you were a doll, what accessories would you be sold with?
I like to think I’m sweet, so let’s go with a lollipop.
What have you done in life that has given you the most satisfaction?
Being a dog mum. He’s there on my best and worst days. Also writing books and seeing the finished product.
Blurb for Birthday Girl (The Birthday Romance Series Book 1):
Angie, a single, straight-laced lawyer, doesn’t date and hates birthdays…
But she’s not getting out of celebrating her twenty-eighth birthday when her best friend whisks her away to the Snowy Mountains for a surprise Brumby spotting tour. Angie has never been to the Snowy Mountains, let alone ridden a horse. And she never imagined she’d meet Liam, the sexy cowboy and expert horseman, who sets her heart (and soul) on fire.
Set in the beautiful landscape of the Australian Snowy Mountains, this short story will make you believe birthday wishes do come true.

I’ve been following Rachel’s career for a few years – she’s great! Lovely to see rural Australia (amd particularly the highlands and the Smowies) as a setting for romance!
